Kevin M. Kern

 

Kevin M. Kern is First Data’s chief technology officer, and serves as the company’s executive vice president of Global Operations and Technology. In this role, to which he was promoted in May 2010, Kern is responsible for product development, service delivery, technology infrastructure, customer conversions, procurement, real estate, enterprise security and compliance for the global enterprise.

Since joining First Data in 2009, Kern has been responsible for providing global technology solutions for enterprise risk, security, global infrastructure, architecture, business intelligence, shared services and global strategic sourcing and procurement. In addition, Kern led the operating regional O&T delivery teams in the company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Asia Pacific (APAC) and Latin America and Canada (LAC) regions, delivering localized technical products, customer services and settlement functions.

Kern has more than 30 years of global operations and technology experience and his career has focused mostly in high-tech and manufacturing. Prior to First Data, he served as the chief information officer of Unisys and Computer Associates and the regional chief information officer for Compaq EMEA. In addition, Kern led HP’s managed services global delivery. Earlier in his career, Kern held roles with WellPoint Health Networks, SAP America, Arthur Andersen Consulting and Mack Trucks.

Kern earned a master’s degree in business administration from Wilkes University in Pennsylvania and was a recipient of the Information Week Top Innovators 500 Award.
